Season 2 Review: Superior Multiverse Chaos Ends Marvel's Difficult Year Strongly]]> Marvel's What If...? was probably the strangest property to be unveiled as part of Kevin Feige's over-arching MCU narrative, let alone to receive a confident multi-season order off the back of 2021's debut. But then, hindsight has proved that some of the finest moments in Marvel's timeline have been the ones with the biggest surprise factor. And with Loki season 2 proving the best MCU property of the year, and I Am Groot's 2023 return also adding a serviceable second string to the Guardians Of The Galaxy spin-off, there was reason to be hopeful for a hat-trick of sophomore successes. Happily, What If...? season 2 actually outdoes the first season.

<![CDATA[Dr. Death Season 2 Review: Édgar Ramirez Charms In Peacock's Chilling, Intense True Crime Story]]> True crime dramas can be just as eerie and terrifying as they are mysterious, but Dr. Death takes things a step further by examining the horror within the medical industry, to grim and chilling effects. An anthology series that rattles us to our core, season 2 makes for a compelling, intense watch that questions not only doctors and the medical system, but our faith in the latter, especially considering the lies and inaction amidst death and negligence.

<![CDATA[Percy Jackson & The Olympians Review: Finally, An Adaptation That's Faithful To Rick Riordan's Book]]> It’s been a minute since I’ve read the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, but I remember them quite fondly. The author excelled at developing characters, building worlds, and establishing obstacles for the title character and his friends. Taking its influence from Greek mythology, Percy Jackson and the Olympians was fun, intriguing, and exciting. The long-awaited Disney+ series, created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg (who splits showrunning duties with Dan Shotz), embodies much of the same spirit that made the book so enjoyable. The relationship between Percy, Annabelle, and Grover is lovely; they’re the heart of the show and their dynamic is central to the overarching story, which builds upon themes of trust, belonging, and friendship. If there’s any reason to watch season 1, it’s for them, and the way in which the adaptation smartly takes things one step at a time without ever feeling dull.

<![CDATA[Reacher Season 2 Review: Exciting, Action-Packed Sophomore Outing With A Personal, Compelling Story]]> Reacher season 2 sees the return of Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher, who goes on a new mission that is personal from the start. Created for TV by Nick Santora, Reacher season 1 was both a critical and commercial success, becoming Prime Video's first most-streamed series. Between the chemistry among Jack's newly re-assembled team and the nature of their case, the new season is just as compelling as season 1 so far, despite some key changes. It's gory, heartbreaking, and oddly funny at times. The action sequences are superb and diversified, thanks to featuring its highly skilled protagonists. If season 2 can sustain its storytelling until the end, then it has the potential to surpass its predecessor in terms of entertainment value. And despite revealing the big plot points early on, season 2 is anything but underwhelming.

<![CDATA[Culprits Season 1 Review: Hulu's Latest Series Has Style, Substance & One Hell Of A Heist]]> Culprits is engaging TV that knows how to please. Hulu’s latest entry has action, heart, and a compelling story. J Blakeson’s (I Care A Lot) mystery heist can be melodramatic at times and the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired, but none of that gets in the way of it being plain old fun. The cast is great all around, with old and new faces building out the world. Meanwhile, the cinematography, music, and costume design put the finishing touches on a vibrant criminal underworld.

<![CDATA[Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Reinvents The Series in the Best Way Possible - Review]]> Warning: Minor Spoilers For Scott Pilgrim Takes OffNetflix's anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off sees the return of the titular Scott, Ramona Flowers, and the rest of Bryan Lee O'Malley's beloved characters in a new story that quickly defies all expectations of a fan base that's hopefully matured as much as its author. Viewers who expected an anime adaptation of the same Scott Pilgrim story seen in O'Malley's 2004 comic and Edgar Wright's outstanding feature film, 2010's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, may be disappointed that Takes Off is very different. However, fans hungry for a storyline that thoroughly explores and adds layers to the beloved cast are in for a treat.

<![CDATA[The Crown Season 6 Part 1 Review: A Sensitive, Mostly Successful Take On A Royal Tragedy]]> Ever since Netflix's award-winning period drama The Crown announced it would be introducing Princess Diana — and perhaps since even before then — there has been plenty of speculation over how the series would depict the tragic circumstances of her death. From the moment she first appeared onscreen in season 4, then played by Emma Corrin, Diana's fate has loomed large over The Crown, and with season 6, it finally comes to pass. Coming off the weaker season 5, the show has a lot of expectations to live up to, and based purely on its first four episodes, it mostly meets them. With what will no doubt be its most scrutinized episodes yet, The Crown season 6 gets off to a devastating start with only minor stumbles.
